Classroom Rules

Beginning of Class:

1.     Arrive to class on time.

2.    Once you have entered, go to your assigned seat and get out everything you will need for class.

During Class:

1.     All rules that apply to BIST will be followed.

2.     You need to raise your hand when asking a question.  You may not just blurt out when you have something to say.

3.     You may not get out of your seat without permission.

4.     Be aware of those around you.  Don’t distract them.  We are all here to learn and it isn’t fair if you distract their learning.

5.     We will have time for class discussions.  When I’m in need of your attention I expect silence.

Class Dismissal:

1.      The bell does not dismiss you, I DO!

2.     You will usually have time at the end of class to work on homework.  During that time, it is VERY important that you respect those around you.  Just because you may be finished doesn’t mean that they are.  You may put your things away QUIETLY and then read a book.  If EVERYONE finishes with time left, I will direct you on what we can do. 

 

HOMEWORK:

I expect all homework completed on time.  I do not give busy work.  I give you the amount of work I need to see in order to assess your comprehension of the material.  Therefore, I expect it to be complete.  Green slips will be given to those who do not complete their homework.  Each student will be given 1 Oops a year.  

*SPECIAL NOTE*
I do allow students to redo most homework assignments.  I do not allow Chapter Reviews and most Check Points.  The way a student is to redo their work is this......Once it is graded and they see their grade they can bring it to me and chose to redo it THAT evening for a better grade.  They are not in trouble if they don't redo it; I will just take the first grade.  I hope to see an improvement in the 2nd grade.  If I don't, then I know that I need to find a time to go over it with that child.  I do take 10% off for a redo.  That usually doesn't amount to much.  If you have any questions, please email me and I can explain further.
